Bug: Facebook Messenger Deep Link Issue

What’s happening

There’s a known bug in the Facebook Messenger app where deep links opened from a button inside a Messenger DM fail to open. Instead, Messenger shows an error and blocks the link from launching.

Status

This is a Meta-side issue. We reported it to Meta in September 2025, and it has not been fixed yet.

Workaround (currently the only option)

For Facebook Messenger DMs, update your button URLs to avoid deep links. Use a standard web URL instead (no app deep-linking / custom scheme / deep-link parameters).
