Why DMs Sometimes Don't Send: Common Scenarios Explained

At LinkDM, we aim to provide a seamless experience for sending DMs in response to comments on your Instagram posts. However, there can be various reasons why a DM might not be sent as expected. Here are the most common scenarios:

1. Instagram Inbox Disabled

If a user has disabled their Instagram Inbox, it means they won't receive any direct messages. In this case, our system won't be able to send a DM to their account.

2. DMs from Non-Followers

Some users set their Instagram accounts to only receive direct messages from people they follow. If you are not following them, our DM may not be delivered or it will be sent to their Request folder where they won't receive an alert.

3. Instagram Display Bug

Instagram occasionally experiences display bugs that affect how messages appear in the inbox. While the DM might have been sent, it might not be immediately visible due to these Instagram-related issues. Read more here.

4. Instagram API Glitch

In rare instances, there might be a glitch with the Instagram API. Approximately less than 0.5% of DMs (1 out of every 500) may not send because of an error on Instagram's side. Unfortunately, this is beyond our control, as it's related to Instagram's infrastructure.

Understanding the "See Response" Label

It's important to note that not all comments replied to with a DM will display the "See response" label on the comment itself. To confirm if the DM was sent, please click into the user's inbox to check. Sometimes, due to Instagram's behavior, the label may not appear, but the DM will still be in the user's inbox.
