What is Broadcast Starter DM?

Broadcast Starter DM is the first message sent when someone engages with a supported post automation or trigger. Instead of sending the requested DM immediately, LinkDM sends a short starter message first. When the user clicks the button or quick reply, their 24-hour messaging window opens and LinkDM sends the DM they requested.

Why Broadcast Starter is needed

Meta only allows one automated DM to be sent from a post comment interaction. Because of this, LinkDM sends the Broadcast Starter DM first. Once the user clicks the starter button, LinkDM can then send the original DM and include that user as an active contact for Broadcasts. This helps make more followers eligible to receive future Broadcast messages.

Where Broadcast Starter can be used

Broadcast Starter can be enabled for supported post automations and Universal Triggers.

You can choose to apply Broadcast Starter to:

All future post automations and triggers
Previously created post automations and triggers
Specific automations or triggers only

When Broadcast Starter is enabled on previous automations, it only applies to new comments or new trigger activity received after it has been enabled.

FAQ

What happens if Flow Automation is already enabled?‍
If Flow Automation is already enabled on a post or trigger, LinkDM will skip the Broadcast Starter DM and use the Flow Automation starter instead, while still adding the user to the selected Broadcast segment.

Will Broadcast Starter send to people who already commented?‍
No. When Broadcast Starter is applied to previous automations or triggers, it only affects new comments and new trigger activity from that point onward.
